This petite pan-Asian beauty never fails to captivate audiences with her graceful and energetic movements. A very cheery and bubbly person by nature, she is able to connect with audiences of all ages. By incorporating her personality with her dance, she makes it an exciting, energetic and enjoyable experience.
With a love for dance from a tender age, Tanya has been involved in countless dance performances and has also performed in groups and solo. Her dance background includes Chinese dance, MTV jazz and, hip hop. For the past 10 years she has been involved in theatre and drama which have incorporated dance as well as numerous choreographed performances – both locally as well as overseas. She has also learnt Bollywood dances from well-known choreographer Pavan Chopra.
She had always wanted to learn Bellydance and finally did so under the instruction of Samra Ozturk, the founder and principal of Pyramid Dancers.
Tanya believes that Bellydance is the dance that best expresses a woman’s body and that once a dancer has started it, she won’t be able to go a day without doing a single Belly dance movement - it is that addictive.
She has performed at various D&Ds, weddings, bellygrams etc. She performed at the 3rd Ahlamy Bellydance Festival and was involved in WOMAD 2007 as a performer and conductor of mini workshops.
Tanya continues to broaden her knowledge in the beautiful art of Bellydance. She has attended numerous workshops by Prof Hassan Khalil (Classical Egyptian), Nuriyya (Modern Egyptian), Jenna (Gypsy Turkish), Nancy (Persian), Nigma (Tribal), Tamalyn Dallal (Veil and techniques) to name a few. On top of that she also studies from various videos and books of other famous artistes. One of her favorites is the energetic Belly dancer Ansuya.
Her love, commitment and passion for the dance is obvious whether on or off stage.
Tanyas’ performance is not to be missed! |
